Northwest Nationals Tryouts
Northwest Nationals teams are formed through an open player tryout process each year. At most age groups we field two teams (Red & Blue). However, at the younger age groups we will field as many as four teams based on demand.
Tryouts for each age group are held over 2-3 days. We strongly encourage players to make at least the first two tryouts. However, if you are unable to attend a particular session, simply contact the coach and let them know.
What Can I Expect?
Northwest Nationals coaches will run players through exercises and game situations to help evaluate the player’s technical, tactical, and physical abilities. Our coaches, especially at the younger age groups, will look to place players on teams where they will be both challenged and successful.
Once tryouts are complete and team selection has been determined, all players will receive notification of their tryout results.
What Should I Bring?
Players will need a water bottle, a ball and shinguards. Remember to bring some extra layers of clothing in case the weather changes. Players, including current Northwest Nationals players, should avoid wearing club gear to tryouts.
How Should I Prepare?
The best way to prepare for tryouts is to get a good nights rest, be well hydrated and have eaten healthy meals leading up to the event. Our coaches do their very best to make this a fun process. Parents should encourage their players to have fun and express themselves during the tryout process.
What Age Group Should I Register For?
Your player’s age group is determined by their age on July 31, 2015. A player who is 11 on July 31, 2015 would need to register for U12. If you are unsure of which age group your player should be trying out for, you can find out by clicking “Age Chart” on the menu to the left side of the screen.
How Do I Register For Tryouts?
Once you’ve determined the correct age group, simply click the “Register For Tryouts” button to the left of the screen and follow the prompts. While walkups are welcome we strongly encourage everyone to register online. This will save you time at check-in on tryout days. Don’t forget to bring the completed tryout registration form you will receive by email after completing the online registration process.
When And Where Are Tryouts Being Held?
The tryouts for particular age groups vary. You can find the schedule for your player by clicking the appropriate age group on the menu to the left of the screen.
