Belgian team's chairman, lawyer charged with wrongdoing
BRUSSELS — The chairman and lawyer of La Louviere soccer club have been charged with financial wrongdoing as part of Belgium's match-fixing probe. Team chairman Filippo Gaone and lawyer Laurent Denis formally were charged after police searched 20 homes and offices, seizing documents, computers and mobile phones.

Donovan to sit out
CHICAGO (AP) — Landon Donovan will miss the U.S. soccer team's exhibition game at Germany on Wednesday because of a right calf strain.

Donovan was injured March 8 playing for Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy in a 3-2 loss at Costa Rica's Deportivo Saprissa in the CONCACAF Champions Cup quarterfinals. He probably will be sidelined two to three weeks, Galaxy trainer Ivan Pierra said.

FIFA passes anti-racism legislation
ZURICH, Switzerland (AP) — FIFA passed anti-racism legislation Thursday that could exclude teams for up to two years for violations.

Teams would lose three points for a first offense, six for a second and relegation to a lower division for further violations under the rules passed by the world governing body's executive committee.

University official: MLS plans to put team in South Jersey
MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. — Major League Soccer is planning to put a team in Glassboro, N.J., according to officials at Rowan University.

Rowan spokesman Joe Cardona said the details would be made public at a news conference with MLS officials on Monday. Cardona said the name of the team, its owners and whether it would be an expansion team or a relocated one remain to be worked out.

Cup coverage for U.S. World Cup fans
BRISTOL, Conn. (AP) — ABC will televise 12 of the 64 games at this year's World Cup, including the final on July 9 and the first-round matchup between the United States and Italy on June 17.

U.S. women beat France at Algarve Cup, earn spot in final
FARO, Portugal — Kristine Lilly scored three minutes into the game, and the United States went on to beat France 4-1 Monday and will play for the Algarve Cup title against Women's World Cup champion Germany.

Olympique Marseille, Udinese out of UEFA Cup
LONDON (AP) — The UEFA Cup, already a distant second in stature to the Champions League, lost two of its top-name clubs on Thursday.

Former European champion Olympique Marseille was knocked out of the round of 16 by Zenit St. Petersburg, and Bulgaria's Levski Sofia eliminated Italy's Udinese.
