What a great start to a new season.  The Starfire tournament was a chance to see this year’s team in action.  They had an excellent weekend of bonding on the field and preparing for the season ahead. 

The girls blended very well and had a chance to work together on the game field after only two practices. The Synergy game was a great passing game, resulting in a tie. Game 2 was a hard-fought win against South Sound.  Our 3rd game was against Federal Way Reign-Purple.  Our girls were ready to play.  With with a lot of hard work our girls were able to beat the P1 team, 2 -1.  For the finals we were up against the Reign one more time.  Both teams played hard in the rematch, with the win going to the Reign, 2 -1. 

NWN GU16 Gold finished a strong second in the tournament.  Congratulations girls to a well deserved silver medal.

A successful Northwest Nationals Selects team at the GU16 age group is looking for a goalkeeper this year.  This team competed in the WSYDL last year, finishing in second place and reaching the knockout stage of State Cup.  As we continue to improve and compete at higher levels, we have a spot available for a goalkeeper.  This team will attend LPTs and will be looking to achieve a spot in P3, which was just missed in 2007.

Beginning in 2008-09, the Northwest Nationals Premier Soccer Club, in cooperation with FC Mukilteo Select Soccer, has formed a new program–the Northwest Nationals Select.

The NWN Select will fill a void in local soccer programs by catering specifically to players and their families who want a tremendous soccer experience but don’t wish to participate at the premier level. This new select program will be modeled after the highly successful NWN Premier Club and will offer the same high quality coaching and training resources which have become synonymous the NW Nationals.

Bobby McLaughlin is the NWN Selects Director of Coaching. McLaughlin’s 20-plus years of coaching and program leadership experience will be supported by the NW Nationals’ strong organizational and administrative structure.

McLaughlin will be working alongside NWN Premier Boys Director of Coaching Mark Collings, NWN Premier Girls Director of Coaching Arby Busey and NWN Premier Assistant Director of Coaching Ben Somoza. Together, they are determined to deliver an unmatched select soccer experience.
