Mark Metzger
Coach B92 Blue/Coach B97 Red

Mark Metzger has been with Northwest Nationals for seven years and is also assistant coach for the Seattle Pacific University men’s program.

As midfield general, Metzger helped lead SPU to its first NCAA championship in 1978, toppling heavily-favored Alabama A&M for the crown. The Falcons were runners-up in ’77 and third in ’79. An all-conference selection in 1979, he was later drafted by teams both in the MISL (Houston) and ASL (Phoenix).

Metzger managed the Bear Stearns stock index futures trading desk on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange from 1982-2000. During that time, he coached boys and girls teams for 12 years and his teams won four Illinois state titles. More than 35 of his players have played in the collegiate ranks. He returned to the Seattle area in 2001 and, in addition to coaching at his alma mater served as a coach and clinician for Northwest Soccer Camp.
