Ben Somoza
Coach G95 Red/Coach B93 Red
Ben Somoza has been with Northwest Nationals for three years and is also a volunteer assistant coach for the University of Washington men’s program and head coach of King’s High School. He assists the NWN G92 Reds.
A Seattle native, Somoza played for South Snohomish County Allemania and Edmonds-Woodway High School, where he was Everett Herald player of the year and Seattle Times athlete of the year in 1998. He played four seasons at Washington, serving as captain and making all-Pac 10 his final three seasons. He was a member of the U.S. national amateur side in 2001.
Somoza was drafted by the USL-Division 1 Portland Timbers and later played four seasons for the Seattle Sounders, including their 2005 championship team.
In 2007, Somoza guided King’s to second in the state 1A tournament.
