Shelves at several local food banks will be re-stocked in time for the holidays, thanks to the strong response by the Northwest Nationals girls teams at their annual Christmas Practice and Food Drive Dec. 19 in Lynnwood.
Over 1,600 items were collected by the various teams, with many of the players dressed festively for the occasion (see above). Included in that amount was enough meat items to feed 1,040 families.
Sharing top honors for the most food collected were the NWN 92 Reds, coached by Arby Busey, and the 95 Reds, coached by Ben Somoza. Sean Sandin’s 93 Blues and Somoza’s 95 Reds were responsible for the generous meat donation.
Nicole Martinez’ 96 Whites finished runners-up.
Way to get into the spirit and support your communities, Nationals!
